KEVIN GRIFFIN

Hooves

have stamped on last week's world.
And so are fossils made.

Someone kicked my verbs away,
the adjectives I hid in shrubs and frenzy
till they lost patience and sang
forging a reverie near the warble of flowering.

A man on a ladder reaches
to a sky that allows a reaping.
I am hearing the rumble of hooves.
