NOEL KING

North

my blackbird poem is not
"singing in the dead of night"
or keeping "smooth plats of fruitful ground"
nor even feeling "the warm eggs, the small breasts..."

no, my blackbird takes a break from
chirping in my west wing
flies south
and at night east
disturbing my sleep

but it's when he goes north
is the thing
when he flies north
it's serious

catch the bugger and I am cured
but alas he (or she)
is invisible.
